The story behind:
On the moon
After recording three songs together with and supervised by producer Sander van Herk we decided to use the budget we had to create a studio instead of making an album. Sander taught me the technical skills of protools. After a year of practicing with those Sander listened to the recordings I made with my co-producer, bass and guitar player Rob Hendriks. After mixing and mastering the songs they formed my debut album. Five days’ sail: In response to a scene from the film “Chaos” of the Taviani Brothers in which a mother is trying to keep her daughter from running down the dunes with a sailor. Autumn finds gold: Golden autumn in the woods next to the little ice rink in De Bilt, the village I live in. No Wings or Wheels: My friend Tamsin sent me these lyrics after losing her driving license. Within ten minutes I wrote this soothing song for her. On The Moon: Nightmares in which aliens figure, a summary in irony. What would you say: Is composed together with Rob Hendriks. Infatuation: An impossible love. Steve’s cabin: I still love that song! Fireman: An officer who fought at the front in Kuwait. He survived this and decided to become a fireman. No Man’s land: A view across the IJssel at Deventer I don’t miss a thing: Abandoned by a great wish, I felt lost. Don’t forget me when I’m gone…
